Anadeo Statue, West Timor
Anadeo (ancestor/protector) statue from West Timor, with two figures back-to-back and sharing a "top knot" on their heads. Carved from volcanic tuff. This figure was placed outside of a home or next to a sacred village tree to keep evil spirits away. Original anadeo statues are now quite rare. Age: mid-20th century.
